It was a cold and wet Day when Born to Destruct rumbled down the motorway to the Home of the Legend that is Oi Oi Vincey Boy and the following Double interview took place amongst a wild afternoon of Tea Drinking and Conversation….
Vince : In my opinion, Punk rock is about being yourself and not following a set course. With this in mind I confess to the following “unpunk” characteristics 1. I prefer to drink tea than beer! 2. I enjoy watching Kerrang – which is a load of commercialised dribble - but its good!
Now its your turn, make your confessions of what is very much NOT punk about you?
Kat : Going out night clubbing/being a girlie girl Rich : Music theory/ cycling Woodstock : A love of Kylie Minogue videos/dinner parties Stu : Software engineering/being a hippy
Vince : I have no interest at all in politics within this country, and feel it is a total fast with a corrupt bunch of people who have no touch with real life making decisions that affect every day of our lives. I feel we would be better off with people in the public eye who are respected and have a level head forming a coalition to challenge such decisions - who would you trust to run the country?
Woodstock : My Dad, Kat : Bill Bailey Rich : Any Bob (especially woodstocks cat Punkbob) Stu : Stephen Fry

Vince : We are hoping to return to the Maldives later this year, which for us is a break in total paradise that we work all year to pay for. If you could choose anywhere in the world to play a gig where would it be, and who would you support.
Woodstock : Without a doubt, Wembley Stadium - 3 days of underdog bands. Vince : Through your ever growing experience, which of the bands that you have worked with have impressed you the most on the following: 1. Musical Ability, 2. Attitude / Enthusiasm
Woodstock : Senton Bombs & Citizen Keyne Stu : Random Hand : Overload Kat and Rich : Dun2Def

Vince : Where do you see BTD being in 5 years time from now, do you think you will still be playing and do you feel that your music is evolving over time?
All together : WE LIVE 4 TODAY..
Vince : What is the biggest audience (and smallest) audience you have played to and how did it feel?
Woodstock : Smallest Audience was 2 (One was drunk and asleep) We made the most of it haha but not the best night out, Kat : Not sure of the largest but as long as everyone is having a good time and theres more than 2 we are happy to play to end size crowd. Woodstock : We have been first on, 2nd on, Main Support, Headlined, done showcases, weddings, engagement parties, bar mitzvahs, Played inside, outside, in a Dining Room, on a lorry and in a Cellar, and we have met some really Great people who from the day we met to now remain our friends and that is one of the best things about playing gigs. We Love them all!

Vince : Tell me something about each of the band members – who is the mist fiery and who the most placid, and which of you are following through from your youth and who are newly adapted to this racket we call music.
Woodstock, Stu and Rich : Most Fiery (None but if Kat is out of the Room Her!!haha) Woodstock : We are all fairly chilled and easy going this is fun after all as to Most Placid that’s between Rich and Stu As to Following from Youth Woodstock : Went to first Punk gig in 1978 Played in bands from 1979 – 1996 then restarted in 2006, Kat : The Ramones were one of the bands she used to be rocked to sleep with as a baby and then she made her own way into punk in 2003 aged 13 Stu and Rich : Skirted on the edges of Punk dipping a toe in here and there over the years, But Born to Destruct was what pulled them in
Vince : I have a big issue with people who feel the world owes them a living and sponge of the state at my and every other workers cost, having worked very hard throughout my career to a Management level with no help at all. I also do not like loud cocky, arrogance and people with a defeatist attitude – problem makers instead of problem solvers. What type of people can you not stand to be around ?
Woodstock : I think you pretty much covered it but Kat Doesn’t like Sheep baa baa and Rich hates people who don’t know there own mobile number, and you can add people who insist on showing you all the apps on there fucking iphone haha

Vince : Being a gadget freak, I was one of the first people to own an MP3 player, and started to preach to everyone how this was the way forward and would totally revolutionise the music industry. What are your views from an artists point of view on how market can be produced and marketed now and what do you think of file sharing?
Woodstock : As we do this for fun and not as a living its not an issue we would rather someone copied our CD for there mates than them not hearing it any money we get goes into the band anyway as to File sharing, you cant stop it so embrace it. So now it the Turn Of Born to Destruct to Question Vince…Someone stick the kettle on we need another Brew Woodstock : When did you get into Punk and why. Vince : At the age of 13 then by 14 in a band, it was new and fresh and a small group liked it at school, and they used to gather at a local record shop and they got into a Band called GBH.
I was seen by a local garage door company wanted him to model for them and chose him the money for this was what paid for the Bass guitar and they used to go and listen to Dr Feelgood rehearse down the road from them.
The first band I went to see was GBH and this was a great but equally scary experience but it did make me realise this was the music for me and although over the years I have got into other music (such as Barry Manilow) Punk has always remained at the heart of it for me.

Woodstock : Who would you have as the members of your ultimate Punk band (alive or dead) and why?
Vince : My ultimate punk band would have to be, God this is hard, Ok Drums – Rat Scabies, Bass - Lemmy no question, Guitar – Captain Sensible, Vocals – Now that’s Hard can I come back to that (yes) Having thought about it Lauren from The Front on vocals that’s my ultimate band. Woodstock : Has anything shocked and surprised you since getting heavily back into the Punk scene now?
Vince : Yes firstly I discovered that there is a whole world of Punk music I knew nothing of in the Underdog punk scene. Equally the Bands of yester-year that I spent many an hour and money on have not responded or even responded to any of my contact.
It has saddened me and was very disheartening but once I started to meet underdog bands such as Born to Destruct, Citizen Keyne, One Man Stand to name a few and people such as Dave (Fungal Punk) and Mark (Still Dying) who constantly go out of there way to help and support and it is so refreshing.
I would like to add I have contacted every band I could with Personally written emails explaining about the website and what I am doing and how I would like to include them at no expense to them and I cant think of very few of the so called Bigger bands that has even responded, in any way. (Added later I must Just say Both Beki and Paul from Vice Squad and Colin from GBH have been very helpful and should not be included in the list above)

Woodstock : Is there anyone who you have tried and been unsuccessful at getting involved in Studs and Punks that you feel would be great to get involved
Vince : The answer to that is NO. There are some very big organisations out there that have snubbed all my attempts to get involved and that has closed the door for me, I only want to work now with those that are doing it for the right reasons.
Vince’s Studs and Punks dream all dayer what would the line up be and why
The Front Born to Destruct Citizen Keyne One Man Stand Dun2Def Mispelt2.0
Now to be fair there are so many bands out there that I haven’t heard yet that it would be unfair to complete this line up yet but the above so far. Woodstock : Your favourite finds since starting this
Vince : That would be the same list haha I know it’s a small list and I do need to get involved with more bands and there are so many out there that need support and I will try my best to at least myself support and listen to as many as I can. …(Woodstock – YEAH get to the fucking gigs Vince haha) It’s a sad state of affairs But it is encouraging that so many of you Underdogs look at it all with so much enthusiasm for so little return and that is Humbling for me, and I feel Guilty for not being involved more But this will change
Woodstock : Epitaph for your tombstone what will it be?
Vince : You said My questions were hard urmmm..Ok (A number of minutes goes by as Vince Analyses the question and then) “I did my best for everyone, whilst it wasn’t always right in their eyes it was still my Best” Woodstock : I think mine is better haha, “Oi Oi Vincey Boy - should of gone to more gigs!!”
Vince : I promise I am coming to more gigs!!
Woodstock : Lastly what can anyone do to help?
Vince : Feedback I need more Please, what do you like, what don’t you like and how can the site help you - I want to make it a site for all - I am in talks with several others such as Mark at Still Dying, Bombsite ezine, Bubblegum Slut to name a few and watch this space for a possible collaboration/Linking together which I think will be so good for all in the scene.
I don’t mean this in a big headed way so don’t take it as that But I have the funds coming in to make this site whatever you want, I want this site to be the most useful and help take the Punk scene up and up. Woodstock : So come on everyone how can you see that in a negative Vince and Studs and Punks are here for us lets help all we can. Onwards and upwards!!
